The composition of the school’s Board of Governors is set down in the Statute of the St Michael’s Church School (1998). The Board consists of:
- The Warden, the Bishop of Christchurch
- The Vicar of the Parish of St Michael’s and All Angels
- The Principal
- Three representatives appointed by the Parish Vestry
- One representative appointed by the Diocesan Synod
- Two representatives appointed by the Parents’, Teachers’ & Friends’ Association
- One staff member
- One person appointed by the other governors
- Up to three non-voting members who may be co-opted from time to time by the other governors
